Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) has started the operations of city buses at Noida and Greater Noida from 14 December, 2016. This is very important project as there was need for good bus service in Noida and Greater Noida. MP Enterprises & Associates Ltd is the concessionaire of the project and monitoring will be done by Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation. Initially, 20 buses will be operated on 3 routes and 30 buses will be inducted in next few days.
The buses were flagged off by the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) chief after the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh state pressed the inauguration button in Lucknow via video conference. In this first phase, 50 low-floor, state-of-art, CNG, air-conditioned buses across six routes will be operated. While one route will provide service as Metro feeder buses, two routes will cover intra city service, while one route will be for intra connectivity in Greater Noida city. Two routes have also been dedicated for connectivity between the cities of Noida and Greater Noida.
The salient features of buses operated are as under:
1. All buses are Air conditioned buses propelled with BS-IV CNG fuel
2. Technical specification of buses compatible with Urban Bus Specification –II as published by MOUD Govt. of India
3. The entry floor height of the bus is 340 mm first of its kind in India
4. The bus has provision of Kneeling mechanism with manual ramp for specially abled persons
5. The bus is completely ITS equipped with PIS Boards and LED boards
6. CCTV have been fitted inside the bus for safety of women passengers
The minimum fare has been fixed at Rs 10 (0 to 3km) while the maximum fare is Rs 50 (for 30km and more). The service will remain operational from 5:30 AM till 11:30 PM. Buses will be parked at the Sector 88 depot in Noida initially. A permanent depot is being developed in Sector 90, which will be ready in the next three months.
