International Association of Public Transport(UITP) and Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) cordially invite you to the “ UITP Seminar on Integrated Urban Mobility – Need for integrated mobility planning for better cities” to be held in Jaipur, India on 5 March 2014.

The public transport market is changing drastically as it is clearly in a transition phase. People are travelling more frequently for various needs and the journey they make are becoming increasingly complex, covering a wide range of diverse travel pattern. They also demand a wide, flexible range of transport services to choose from and expect high quality. Thus there is a need for public transport agencies to consider provide multiple door-to-door solutions that are efficient enough to compete with the private transport alternative. Besides this services developed should be coherent and well integrated for both physical and operational continuity as the travelling is a complex business.

A true integrated urban transport system is the physical integration of public transport services, fares, ticketing, infrastructure provision, management, pricing, and integration of transport authorities. Besides this integration between general transport policies and others viz., education, healthcare, social services sectors, environment and socio-economic development are also equally important.

To build efficient integrated public transport system to make the cities livable, the following are some of the key objectives considered in this seminar for discussion:

  • Experiences/case studies from other Indian states/countries
  • To build reliable and affordable public transport service in the city.
  • Overall system integration for greater efficiency and occupancy.
  • To develop first and last Mile Connectivity – Bike share and intermediate public transport.
  • Increase the walkability and NMT uses within the city.
